Spalted Maple Boxes

These two boxes are made from spalted maple, wood that was marked by fungus before it ever reached my shop. The spalting left dark lines winding through the pale maple like ink on paper, so no two boxes could ever look alike.

I kept the designs simple to let those patterns take center stage, and the closer you look, the more detail you find.
